- Stay informed—but do not
be obsessive about it.
- Focus on the things you
can control
- Plan for what you can
- Stay connected—even when
physically isolated
- Help others … it will make
you feel better
- Reach out for support when
we need it
- Most Importantly . . .
take care of your body and spirit!
At
present, it is easy to get caught up in your own fears and concerns. This is an
extremely trying time, and all the “tried-and-true” stress management and
self-care strategies apply, such as talking & spending time with family,
eating healthy meals, exercising, getting plenty of sleep, and even meditating.
Beyond that, as Catholics we can look at this as an blessed opportunity to
deepen our connection to God through our faith.
Even though the physical venues of churches are closed, we can access
God’s love and care through live-streamed masses, spiritual reflection and
through a prayer-filled life!
Let
us continue in the presence of God as we proclaim and reflect on the following
words with prayerful hearts . . .
In
closing, take a few minutes to listen to the version of “Lean on Me” by our
homegrown Canadian recording artists. It is such a unifying message for what
the world is going through and what support is out there for those in
need. All proceeds from the single will
go to the Canadian Red Cross and its COVID-19 relief efforts. Remember, it’s
not showing weakness to reach out if you are in need… we are stronger together!
